EasyShip Surveys - The Castle Doors Open!
9 months ago – Mon, Jun 23, 2025 at 11:43:08 AM

Hello Wonderful Slayers and Vampires,

The remaining EasyShip surveys are on their way out! The deadline to complete the survey is July 7th! Please note, the shipping estimates included for each delivery carrier are when the games ship (*not from the time of completing the survey). This takes close coordination with the warehouse(s), and should occur by July 9th.

If you do not receive your survey by tomorrow, please feel free to reach out to us via direct message here on Kickstarter, or at [email protected].

We can't wait for you to receive your game and step into the castle - you're going to love every moment of the adventure!

For backers in the UK, Australia, Canada and New Zealand who are seeing high shipping costs (prepare for a long read!):

We were advised to get a warehouse in both the US and Netherlands in order to make international shipping as affordable as possible. We've been discussing these two warehouse locations since shortly after the Kickstarter itself went live (and we had a better sense of our backer numbers in different regions) - We are so sorry for any stress or frustration potential high taxes and fees may be causing.

Shipping the games to our two separate warehouses across the ocean, and all other associated fees for fulfilling from two separate locations came at a great monetary cost. However, we went through with it to ensure we did everything in our power to try and support our backers in the same way they had supported us - even though based on the number of backers in each region it didn't make business sense to have an NL warehouse. Still, we were told this warehouse would make a huge difference for backers around the world.

Last week, it was discovered that some international backers would be facing high shipping costs, usually due to extra taxes and government fees. We've been back and forth with EasyShip to confirm these figures, as the taxes from some countries seem outlandish. In most cases, the shipping cost itself is around €30, and the extra import tax charges and various fees charged by that country are making that sum MUCH larger.

After much deliberation on how to best take care of our backers, we decided to contribute $20.00 to EVERY single UK, Australian, New Zealand and Canadian backer across the board. This was to show up as a line item called "Retro Plus Games - Shipping Credit" on the EasyShip survey. There's no smoke and mirrors with this, it literally is coming directly out of our pockets to help lower shipping costs for those people.

We have done absolutely everything we can to keep the costs low, even in the face of unexpected circumstances (we also "ate", a much nicer term than the experience, the entirety of the tariff costs - a staggering sum). Politics sucks, man.

There is nothing more important in the world than fulfilling the game, in the best manner possible, to each and every backer. If the high costs or extra taxes and things you're seeing within EasyShip are untenable for your location, we will continue to fight like hell and work on alternative solutions to get the games to your country in an affordable manner. The extra $20 we are contributing out of pocket to backers is coming at a great personal and professional cost, but I understand even that (at least, from what you're currently seeing for your locale) may not be making a large enough difference.

Here's what we can promise/guarantee to backers facing high costs (even after the $20 out of pocket contribution from us) - If you choose to hold off on shipping now, we will honor your pledge for up to one year (and will determine an exact date, which we'll be discussing in a formal update soon). This will require us to store the games at the warehouses beyond our contract or move them to another warehouse, a cost we will again "eat" to ensure we do everything in our power to show love to our backers.

If you're in a region impacted by high government taxes and fees and are willing to wait to receive your game, email us at [email protected] and we'll make sure your pledge is secured. This conversation will be ongoing and we're so incredibly grateful for your support and patience as we explore what the solutions are both short term and long term!

We are incredibly grateful for each and every backer, and we are so thankful you're coming on this journey to Dracula's castle with us. After all, it's dangerous to go alone!

We'll see you in the castle!

EasyShip Update!
10 months ago – Thu, Jun 19, 2025 at 10:26:16 AM

Hello Wonderful Slayers and Vampires,

We just wanted to share a quick update on the EasyShip surveys! The emails have been going out, but the vast majority are still on their way (they start slowly depending on your country before the "full" batches are released). There was a tech issue on their end Tuesday which caused a short delay, hence we find ourselves today still in the testing/ramp up phase. If you have not received an email yet, fret not!

Once you receive it, the deadline to complete the survey is July 7th! Please note, the shipping estimates included for each delivery carrier are when the games ship (*not from the time of completing the survey). This takes close coordination with the warehouse(s), and will occur by July 7th, if not sooner.

We are in constant contact with EasyShip as the batches go out. For any small announcements, we will post a comment to the top of this update. For any major announcements, should something shift on survey timelines, we'll send out another formal update!

***UPDATE***

After the update, EasyShip continued to roll out more surveys to different countries, but still has not yet hit the "mass" portion of the process.

They have a strict policy against sending the bulk of surveys on a Friday, as the technical support team is not readily available on the weekend for any problems that may arise. Thus, they have asked permission to continue the roll at the start of next week.

If you haven't received your survey, don't worry it will be coming soon! This in no way will delay the game shipment, only when you receive your survey.

We are incredibly grateful for each and every backer, and we are so thankful you're coming on this journey to Dracula's castle with us. After all, it's dangerous to go alone!

We'll see you in the castle!

Hello Wonderful Slayers and Vampires,

This Father's Day, we raise a glass (of...something red) to the most legendary father figure of all, Dracula, with a bite sized update!

The survey test from EasyShip shifted from Friday to tomorrow (now beginning June 16th) and surveys will begin going out by tomorrow afternoon to a small number of backers. We have a meeting with EasyShip tomorrow to ensure this stays on track.

The survey emails will come in batches, which will grow in size as the week progresses, with the plan for every backer to receive one by the end of week. If for some reason you don't receive a survey by end of day on Friday, June 20th please feel free to reach out to us with a direct message here on Kickstarter or at [email protected]

We'll have more updates coming soon, but wanted to keep everyone in the loop! As well, should something change, we will send out an update immediately.

We are incredibly grateful for each and every backer, and we are so thankful you're coming on this journey to Dracula's castle with us. After all, it's dangerous to go alone!

We'll see you in the castle!

EasyShip Rises From the Crypt: A Shipping Update!
10 months ago – Sun, Jun 08, 2025 at 06:16:27 AM

Hello Wonderful Slayers and Vampires,

The first batch of EasyShip surveys will begin rolling out at the end of this week! These quick and simple "surveys" will allow you to confirm or update your shipping address, choose your preferred shipping option (i.e., delivery speed) and complete shipping payment.

Here’s how it will work:
To start, a small group of backers will receive the survey emails as part of a test run. This initial batch is scheduled for Friday the 13th - an appropriately dramatic date! Once we receive the green light from EasyShip after this test, the rest of the surveys will be sent out, most likely on Monday, June 16th. We'll update you if anything changes regarding the timeline!

If you have any specific questions, feel free to drop a comment or send us a direct message here on Kickstarter!

We are incredibly grateful for each and every backer, and we are so thankful you're coming on this journey to Dracula's castle with us. After all, it's dangerous to go alone!

The Hunt Begins: Shipping in Motion!
11 months ago – Fri, May 16, 2025 at 06:22:00 AM

Hello Wonderful Slayers and Vampires,

We’ve got the BEST news for you today! Drum roll, please...

On Monday, right after the latest tariff news with China dropped, we IMMEDIATELY reached out to our fulfillment partners to kick off the shipment process to our warehouses in the US and the Netherlands.

Yes - it’s happening!!! The journey across the ocean will begin soon! Thanks to our quick action and some other prep work, we were mostly able to get ahead of what’s shaping up to be a major shipping bottleneck, as many companies are now scrambling to adjust to the changing landscape.

We’ll be back with another update very soon once we have confirmed timelines to share.

Your patience and kindness as we navigated this delay means the world to us. Holding off for the last month was absolutely the right decision, and we can’t thank you enough for your continued support!

We are incredibly grateful for each and every backer, and we are so thankful you're coming on this journey to Dracula's castle with us. After all, it's dangerous to go alone!

We'll see you in the castle!
